( 3.2 / 11 )If anyone has ever heard of the 'fast fashion' culture, where something like 2 million tonnes of cheap, throwaway fashion is causing headaches for governments because it all ends up in landfill every year, we are delighted to announce our own fashion conscience label.
By making mail orderfashion, it means it's all made to order. Therefore we're not stockpiling clothing that no one wants.
Plus as we're not mass producing our garments in factories employing some of the poorest paid workers on the planet, our labels are all produced ethically using a local workforce who enjoy fair pay and good working conditions here in England.
Even though every single piece of clothing we produce is hand finished and therefore a one off, it's all reasonably priced and the best thing is that it does not 'cost the earth'.
As well as this, we make a label which is totally non discriminating. We design & make ALL SIZES in our Nina Couture ranges. We are also steering away from the sizing term 'plus' to the friendlier and more accurate term 'popular' Most women are between sizes 14-20, which makes them the popular size, not necessarily does it mean they are large or outside the usual size range.
If you ever wondered who makes most of today's fashion, take a look at the documentary Blood, Sweat & T Shirts. Click on the link below
http://www.bbc.co.uk/thread/blood-sweat-tshirts/
Having lived in the Pacific Rim for 6 years, and lived amongst the Chinese, the attitude towards profit before people is a very thought provoking topic which has certainly had repercussions globally and saturated the fashion industry to the point where there now has to be a new focus on how clothes are made and the choices the consumer can make ethically before they buy them.
It's a small step in a direction that leads the conscience to make the right kind of choices that demand a fairer deal for some of the worlds most unregulated workforce where children as young as 6 use machinery and inhale cotton dust all day and where the demand for cheap fashion impacts on our environment in such a way that it's now a global concern on what we do with throwaway fashion that even the poorest parts of Africa cannot use.

( 3.1 / 16 )Welcome to the opening of our new shop premises in the UK! What a frantic few months getting it all ready for the opening in time for Christmas. Not withstanding that the shop is a 300 year old Grade II listed building (lots of regulations)not a single wall or floorboard was straight. After 6 weeks of refurbishment to all 3 floors, this is how it looks.
Our cutting room and fashion design studio is on the top floor, our production room and sample and showroom are on the first floor and our retail area is on the ground floor.
Everything is designed and produced all under one roof here in the UK.
For our local clientele visiting our showroom, we offer a unique bespoke service where they can
a) choose a style,
b) choose their size,
c) choose their fabric
We make up the style in their preferred choice and colour of fabric.
You cannot get a more personalised service than this. What's more, we are totally unglossy and very approachable offering a friendly, tailor made service where we can shorten or lengthen sleeves or hemlines for the best fit. This is offered online too, all you need to do is email us your requirements and we can make the garment longer or shorter.
Australian and New Zealand customers please note that nothing has changed in terms of you ordering. We still have our Australian online boutique, you can order just as before, the only difference is that our production side has moved to the UK. Shipping is free and it only takes around a week for orders to arrive.
Our latest news is that the business in the UK is now called Nina Couture under which we produce a label for beautiful evening wear & accessories in all sizes upto a 28.
We have also introduced a new label called Boutique 14-26, which is a flexible fashion collection of tops, jackets, skirts and trousers for sizes from 14 to 28. Plus we still have our ever popular Wrap & Tie holiday and resort wear. Click on this link for a demonstration http://www.glamorousandgorgeous10-28.co ... kirt-top-1

( 3 / 21 )At last, after our big relocation, we are now ready to start taking orders again. I know many of our customers have been frustrated with the shopping cart being disabled while we moved premises but we have just enabled the site again so you can now order.
Thankyou for all your patience while we moved. As you may now know, we transferred the production side of the business to England. This does not affect our Australian and New Zealand customers as SHIPPING ON ALL ITEMS IS FREE!
Plus the post only takes a few days to get to Australia.
HAPPY ORDERING. New styles will be on the site soon.

( 2.9 / 60 )It's come to my notice that some customers are worried that they will not be able to order because we are relocating to England.
PLEASE NOTE! We are only moving our production side to England. THE AUSTRALIAN BUSINESS WILL CONTINUE so you will still be able to order.
Why are we moving to England many of you are asking? OK, well, it's mostly because we can source a lot more beautiful fabrics from Europe that are not currently available here in Australia.
It's also been difficult finding skilled staff who can sew to a very high standard and this is because most of Australia's manufacturing has now gone to China.
As our customers know, we design and produce our garments at home so not being able to find skilled, reliable staff who can sew is a major problem. It means we can't grow the production side of our business.
However, once we are set up in the UK, it will be business as usual for all our Australian and NZ customers so please don't worry, we're not leaving you. We're just in the process of relocating so that we can develop and expand the business. Some people move their production to China. We're moving ours to England because it still produces fabrics and sewing hasn't gone out of fashion in favour of outsourcing abroad!
And yes, shipping will be free as usual.
